re: How to Repair SWTOR

If you have any problems with SWTOR that are not related to lag, try the following first. Between each step, try to run SWTOR again. :

    1. If you do not know what SWTOR Unleashed is or have never installed it onto your machine, skip to step 2.

If you have run SWTOR Unleashed in the past, reinstall SWTOR Unleashed and click "Remove and Quit" and try running SWTOR not using SWTOR Unleashed. Make sure that you load a character. If this works, try running the game again in Unleashed mode. If it crashes in Unleashed mode only and you want to try to use SWTOR Unleashed again, go to the folder you copied SWTOR Unleashed to and delete the XML CONFIG file. Then, start up SWTOR Unleashed, modify any settings you want, and launch the game in Unleashed mode.
    2. Initiate a repair if the launcher has detected a potential problem. Open the launcher. Click the cogs in the lower left corner. Click on "Repair." This option is only available if the launcher detects a possible problem. Time may vary depending on how many files need to be fixed, but this method may be faster than the second. After it is done, close the launcher and go to the following location on your computer:

      For 32 bit Operating Systems - C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars - The Old Republic\swtor
      For 64 bit Operating Systems - C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars - The Old Republic\ swtor

Find the "DiskCacheArena" file and delete it.
    3. Force a repair. See
    4. Change settings: Open and run the game. When the loading screen goes away, hit "Alt+Enter." This should bring up the graphics options, which you can edit. Even switching them to a different setting then switching back could fix the problem.
    5. Change or Reset settings manually: First, enable "Hidden Files" in Windows:

      Then, do the following:
      1. Press the [Windows] Key + [R] at the same time.
      2. Copy the following into the text box and press ok (yes, there are 2 SWTOR entries): %localappdata%\swtor\swtor\settings
      3. Make a backup copy of the client_settings.ini file
      4. Open the client_settings.ini file and try to manually change the settings. Do not touch the "PatchingMode" or "bitraider_disable" unless you want to redownload the entire game.
      5. If you have problems editing this file, deleting the file will set all settings to default.
